This drink, or something like it, has been a staple of mine at a tucked away bar for the last 4 years. Always refreshing, always worth having again, and always mysterious. It’s a signature drink, and I was determined to figure out how to make it.
While I didn’t end up creating an exact replica, after some tried and true mad science mixology, we got something that hit all the notes. It was refreshing, it was worth having more of, and it was a signature.
I’ll come up with a better name, but right now it’s called the Original 1.
Recipe for Original 1
Honey Syrup (1 to 1 mix of honey and water, reduced in a saucepan and then cooled until use)
1 sprig of fresh rosemary
Muddle a few leaves from your sprig with .5 oz of the honey syrup. Add 1.5 oz of the honey gin and ice. Shake until the outside of the shaker is frosted. Strain over ice in a tumbler. Garnish with your rosemary sprig (optional).
